Sammy // Colorful, Creative Insect-Inspired Portraits

HEY THERE!

I have no idea how I forgot to blog these, but it seems pretty timely with his Hulu debut this week! I had the incredible joy of meeting (and subsequently loving) Sammy last October while he was in Wisconsin, and these photos were the result of that beautiful day. Sammy is many things: a singer, an entomologist, a queer Black Christian, and ultimately a brilliant human being. The strides he’s making in his field and the example he sets are both out of this world, but a particular moment of his interview on Your Attention Please really struck a chord with me.

“I actually went to a revival, and they put a hand on my forehead and began to pray to me to entreat God to fix me. I’m going out on a limb here and say that there was nothing to be fixed.”

If you wanna hear more of his story, absolutely give his episode a watch - it’s S3:E3 and available on Hulu.

Sammy is Black History in the making, and it’s an honor to share these with y’all.
