Mitch + David // LGBTQ+ Oshkosh Wedding at The Howard

HI THERE!

I’ve got an incredibly special wedding to share with y’all today, but I’ve also got a big ask.

David + Mitch have been together for just under a decade and have spent that time creating a joyful, rich life. They’re a sweet + vibrant couple who exude nothing but adoration for the other - it’s so fun just to be in their vicinity. Tragically, Mitch was tragically diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer in February. With the support of their families + friends, they were able to have a gorgeous wedding where they could make a tender declaration of their love + commitment to eachother. I wish I could fully express what an honor it was to document these moments, but there just aren’t words.

Instead, I’d really like to ask you if you’ll consider giving to Mitch’s GoFundMe to help ease some of the financial hardships that come with such a devastating diagnosis.

During their ceremony, David + Mitch’s officiant read one of my favorite Mary Oliver poems. Give it a read, give your people a squeeze, and take a scroll through these photos of the most pure love I’ve ever seen. Queer joy is eternal, y’all.

“If you suddenly and unexpectedly feel joy,
don’t hesitate. Give in to it. There are plenty
of lives and whole towns destroyed or about
to be. We are not wise, and not very often
kind. And much can never be redeemed.
Still, life has some possibility left. Perhaps this
is its way of fighting back, that sometimes
something happens better than all the riches
or power in the world. It could be anything,
but very likely you notice it in the instant
when love begins. Anyway, that’s often the case.
Anyway, whatever it is, don’t be afraid
of its plenty. Joy is not made to be a crumb.”

- Don’t Hesitate, Mary Oliver
