Lexie + Sam // Autumnal Fox Cities Wedding at Poplar Hall

HELLO!

As we currently experience Fake Spring, it feels almost impossible to cast my mind back to a gloomy, rainy, cold November day like this one - except that this particular day was so profoundly memorable that I’m already kind of always thinking about it.

Lexie + Sam’s wedding day was wrapped up in chilly clouds and a misty sky, but warmed by thoughtful details and electric laughter. Their first look unfolded against a backdrop of perfectly peak golden foliage and the imminent threat of rain, with my favorite mix of nerves + relief that comes with seeing each other for the first time. But what truly defined the day - what made it unforgettable in a way that lingers long after the day ended - was the music. As talented musicians (and music teachers!), Lexie + Sam didn’t simply select a soundtrack for their wedding, they became it. During their ceremony, they performed a song they had written themselves, a moment that felt impossibly intimate and generous all at once. It was such a precious glimpse into their shared creative language and the way they build meaning together.

And then came the reception, which transformed the night into a literal concert as the stage became a revolving door of all their bands and family members. There is something uniquely magical about a dance floor powered not by a playlist but by the people you love creating in real time. Truly irreplaceable. How this extraordinary group of humans manages to contain so much talent, skill, and heart within one orbit remains genuinely astonishing to me.

The November gloom never stood a chance. The day glowed anyway.
